F.O.C.U.S (Follow One Course Until Successful)

I love that acronym. It is so true when starting online.

This is a major problem I had for a long time. My focus was scattered all over the place trying to make 10 things work all at once.

This is a recipe for sure-fire disaster.

For me it’s now ONE strategy which I will be hammering until it becomes successful. Then rinse and repeat.

So you’re probably now wondering what this strategy is? You are? Good.

In a nutshell-

  1. Writing  a free report (something I know my market wants)
  2. Creating a squeeze page offering the free report in exchange for someone’s name and email address.
  3. Driving traffic via Facebook ads.
  4. Email good quality products and services to my list.

That’s pretty much it. Nothing revolutionary. I’m not going to win any innovation awards but do you know what, it works.

Which to me is the most important. There are so many different ‘money making’ opportunities being thrown at us daily that you can sometimes not know which way to look.

Also, everyone is always banging on about ‘the money is in the list’ which I have discovered isn’t 100% true.

Some even say ‘the money is in the relationship you have with your list’.

Again this also isn’t 100% true.

Do you need a list? Yes. Should you have a good relationship with your list.Yes of course.

But it’s also how you market to your list.

You need to set precedence from the moment someone joins your list that you are going to be selling to them.

If you don’t and all you send out is free information all the time, when you finally try and recommend an affiliate promotion your list will resent you for it. You need to train your list to buy through your recommendations.

    You hit the nail on the head there, Dan. That’s exactly it.

    They’re on your list for a reason – they opted in/they wanted to to be there. I think most people who’ve been online a while are wising up to what it is that they’re getting (in one sense that it’s not as much of a surprise or such a big deal as it was a few years ago; in another that it’s not so easy because of it) and, for the ones that don’t, if they’re not a match, then an unsubscribe is only a few inches and a click away. As one famous marketer said, it’s a 2-way thing to be on my list: I have to want you there and you have to want to be there (paraphrased, of course).

    I agree on the focus as well – one thing at a time [would be a dream]!
